Automated Rollbacks in Kargo: Recovering from Failed Deployments
Thursday, August 13, 2026 9AM PT | 12PM ET | 5PM CET
Rolling back a bad release is harder than it sounds in a real promotion pipeline. You have to find the last version that passed verification, re-promote it the same way you promote forward, and keep the whole thing audited. Most teams handle this with runbooks and custom scripts, and it lands on whoever is on call.
Kargo Enterprise 1.11 automates it: when a stage fails verification, Kargo re-promotes the last verified version on its own, through the standard promotion path.
Jesse Suen, co-creator of Argo CD and Kargo, will demo it live and walk through the design decisions, so you can apply the same approach to your own pipelines.
Register and learn:
- How automated rollback works end to end, from a failed verification to a restored version
- How to write a per-stage rollback policy and pick the right triggers: failed verification, failed promotion, or errors
- How to avoid rollback loops and keep production on a manual gate when you want one
- What open source Kargo can do for recovery today, and where Enterprise picks up
- When automated rollback is the right tool, and when to use AKI incident remediation instead
Who should attend: platform engineers, SREs, and delivery teams running Kargo or evaluating it.
