## GitOps 101: Getting Started with Argo CD & Kargo

This session walks through GitOps fundamentals and how Argo CD and Kargo work together to manage Kubernetes deployments at scale. Adriana hosts, with Nitesh (Argo CD maintainer & CNCF ambassador) breaking down core concepts like GitOps principles, CRDs, and application management. You’ll also see hands-on demos of Argo CD and Kargo, including how to solve the promotion problem across environments.

Key Takeaways

- GitOps fundamentals explained, including declarative configs, versioning, and pull-based workflows that improve visibility, security, and consistency across Kubernetes environments.
- How Argo CD works as a GitOps agent using CRDs like Applications and ApplicationSets to manage deployments, sync states, and automate infrastructure changes.
- How Kargo solves the promotion problem by enabling controlled, scalable deployments across environments without relying on fragile custom scripts or CI/CD hacks.
